Under Articles 28 and 29 of the Act Governing Relations between the Peoples of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area ('Act') in Taiwan, no Taiwan ships/boats, civil aircraft, or other means of transportation of Taiwan may without the approval of the Taiwan authorities sail or fly to the Mainland (to be defined later) Area, and no Mainland ships/boats, civil aircraft or other vessels of transportation may without the approval of the Taiwan authorities enter into the restricted or prohibited waters of the Taiwan Area or the controlled airspace of the Taipei Flight Information Region, as announced by Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence. In addition, under Paragraph 1, Article 30 of the Act, no foreign ships/boats, civil aircraft, or other vessels of transportation may directly sail or fly between seaports or airports of the Taiwan Area and those of the Mainland Area; nor may any foreign ships/boats, civil aircraft, or other vessels of transportation be used to operate scheduled liner services between seaports or airports of the Taiwan Area and those of the Mainland Area via a third area. |
