Observable trends show that museum education has gradually become the focus of attention paid by the present museum community. Besides direct educational activities, it also constitutes an important research issue for museum education to be enhanced through the planning of museum exhibition environment. This research adopted the case study approach by selecting the Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum and conducted in-depth interviews with 6 art teachers of elementary and junior high schools to investigate their views of issues on museum exhibition environment. The results show that favorable facilities and settings, explicit area themes, appropriate explication signs in size and content, interactive and experiencing designs, smooth movement routes, and architectural, public esthetics and compound space designs need to be addressed to enhance the learning outcomes and practice of museum education. In addition, the researchers also find that there exist certain conflicts and contradictions worth further investigation such as the objectives of museum exhibition, viewpoints of art education, cooperation between schools and museums. It is the researchers' sincere hope that this analysis would provide useful information for both the museum in planning its exhibition environment and art teachers in approaching their educational goals by better uses of the museum exhibition environment. |
