The study aims to organize, induct and analyze viewpoints and discourses related to museum exhibition space composition, and explore the compositional elements of a museum exhibition space and their applications. For this purpose, the first thing is to clarify museum exhibition-related concepts and understand which compositional elements of an exhibition space should be considered in planning and design an exhibition theme. The compositional elements include spatial relationships between media, an easy-to-navigate layout formed by all media relationships, a circulation system based on the exhibition layout to fully display the exhibition structure, circulation elements which guide visitors through the exhibition, exhibition styling which functions as interpretation and separation, etc. Although relevant articles mostly focus on circulation, there is an inseparable relation between layout and circulation. On the other hand, exhibition styling not only functions to create certain atmospheres, display contents and provide site orientation, but also help visitors recognize the exhibition as a whole when they enter an exhibition zone. Because each exhibition zone has its unique characteristics, exhibition styling makes independent contents more easily remembered and helps arouse and maintain visitors' interest. To sum up, no matter from the viewpoints of point, line or plane, both psychological and physical factors should be taken into consideration in planning and design to form an exhibition space. |
