The Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission (OCAC) donated 15,000 books to the NCL at a ceremony on May 8. OCAC Minister Chang Fu-mei (張富美) represented the commission at the donation ceremony, while NCL director Juang Fang-rung (莊芳榮) received the gift on behalf of the library.
Minister Chang said that the OCAC has collected about 20,000 books over the years, including works on the historical struggles of overseas Chinese and studies of Japanese treatment of ethnic Chinese people living in Southeast Asia before World War II. Some of the books trace back to the 1940s, providing an invaluable historical resource to overseas Chinese and the people of Taiwan alike. |
