Toufen Library Re-opens at New Home

Toufen (頭份) Public Library in Miaoli County reopened to the public in May following its merger with the Lin Wei-kuan (林為寬) Memorial Library, which was donated by the family of the late lawmaker Lin Wei-kuan to the county government in 2000. The improved facilities include an expanded reading area, computer links to other public libraries in Miaoli county and other regions, as well as evening service. At the May 3 inauguration, the mayor of Toufen said that the new library has a collection of about 45,000 books and a reading room modeled after one at the National Taiwan University Library, providing readers a quiet reading environment away from the bustle of the city.
