User Manuals Released for Chinese Name Authority Database

The NCL completed the user manuals for the Chinese Name Authority Database in late April for distribution to domestic libraries as a reference for creating authority records. The manuals drew from material provided by the database company and incorporated suggestions from the National Taiwan University (NTU) Library and NCL Cataloging Department. In order to meet different user needs, the manuals were published in two versions. The basic version, intended for use by collaborating libraries of the NBINet, includes an introduction to the system and its search/download functions. There is also a more advanced maintenance and operation edition, which includes the material from the basic edition as well as information on system maintenance, updating, and management. This version is reserved for use by personnel in charge of database maintenance at NBINet libraries.
