The Center for Chinese Studies (CCS) celebrated its twentieth anniversary this year by holding a three-day international conference on “the Private” and “Sentiment” in Chinese History and Culture, from August 20 to 22. The center commissioned a student troupe at the National Taiwan Junior College of the Performing Arts to perform the Chinese opera the “Golden Lotus” at the school’s Mucha campus.
The conference was sponsored by the CCS in collaboration with the Ming-Ch’ing Studies Group of the Academia Sinica and the Society of Modern Chinese History.
The opening ceremony was chaired by NCL Director Juang Fang-rung (莊芳榮) and featured speeches by Academia Sinica President Lee Yuan-tseh (李遠哲), Vice Minister of Education Lu Mulin (呂木琳), and Council for Cultural Affairs Vice Chairman Liu Wann-hong (劉萬航). |
