Kaohsiung County Libraries Launch Online Services

The Kaohsiung County Government inaugurated the first phase of its library information network on January 30, linking the resources of the county's Bureau of Culture and nine city and town libraries. The system allows county residents with proper I.D. to borrow books online from affiliated libraries and look up book information at the touch of a button. Organizations participating in the first phase include the Bureau of Culture and city and town libraries in Fengshan, Taliao, Tashu, Tashe, Chiaotou, Yungan, Kangshan, Alien, and Chishan. The official launch was attended by Mr. Chung Su (蘇忠), the director of the Central Office of the Council for Cultural Affairs, Executive Yuan; Kaohsiung County Bureau of Culture representative Mr. Chang-hua Wang (王長華); and mayors from the cities and towns of the affiliated libraries.
