The purposes of the study were: 1, to investigate the recreational sports information and recreational sports constraints of Chung Shan Medical University faculty and staff. 2, to compare recreational behavior differences among different demographic variables. The subjects of the study were 200 Chung Shan Medical University faculty and staff which were selected through convenience sampling from all faculty and staff (n=595) of Chung Shan Medical University. The instrument of this study was Recreational Sports and Constraint Factory Scales developed by the authors of the present study. Descriptive statistics, multiple-choice frequency distribution, and Chi-square were applied to analyze the data of this study. The results were: (1) 76.4 of the faculty and staff have engaged in regular recreational sports activities; 41.0 of them do exercises once to twice a week; 57.6 of them exercise after work; 37.4 of them do exercise not in specific time period; 56.8 of them do exercise no more than one hour at one time; 27.3 of them do exercise with their family; 65.5 of them spend less than 500 NT dollars at a month; (2) 17.3 of them took jogging as recreational sports; (3) 30.8 of them deemed ”time” as the most significant constraint factor; (4) The recreational sports behavior differences were found in three variables which included sex, individual health condition, and individual fitness ability. The researchers recommend that school should follow each department and organize enough employees to reduce teacher's work. School also should hold activities such as walking or jogging to provide more chance to join recreational sports. |
