The purpose of this investigation was to assess the content of heavy metals (zinc, chromium and nickel) in samples of milled rice grown in Taiwan. From July 1994 to June 1995, 100 samples each of the '94 first & second crop milled rice were collected from government entrusted warehouses of Food Bureau. The results of examination of 1994 first crop milled rice exhibited an average zinc content of 15.53 ppm(10.48 ~21.92 ppm), chromium: 0.06 ppm (N.D.~0.21 ppm), and nickel: 0.37 ppm(0.14~1.08 ppm); The 1994 second crop milled rice exhibited an the average zinc content of 12.52 ppm(5,51~23.98 ppm), chromium: 0.13 ppm(0.02~0.41 ppm), and nickel: 0.8 ppm(0.06~2.10 ppm). This investigation showed that the content of almost all samples were similar to other countries. |
