Pesticide residue analysis of 50 samples of marketed Chinese herbs including Paeoniae Radix and Lycii Fructus were carried out by GC/ECD. Nine organic chlorinated pesticides (α-BHC, β-BHC, γ-BHC, Heptachlor, Aldrin , Heptachlor epoxide, Dieldrin, Endrin, pp'-DDT) were investigated. The defection limits of this method were 12.0 ppb forα-BHC, 20.0 ppb forβ-BHC, 12.0 ppb for γ-BHC, 15.0 ppb for Heptachlor, 10.0 ppb for Aldrin, 10.0 ppb for Heptachlor epoxide, 12.0 ppb for Dieldrin, 15.0 ppb for Endrin, and 20.0 ppb for pp-DDT. The recoveries were 85.4~87.5% for α-BHC, 83.4~84.0% for β-BHC, 81.0~82.9% for γ-BHC, 82.6~84.0% for Heptachlor, 80.0~84.2% for Aldrin, 80.6~82.0% for Heptachlor epoxide, 73.3~84.6% for Dieldrin, 82.5~84.9% for Endrin, and 79.8-82.7% for pp'-DDT. None of the fifty herbal samples collected randomly from Chinese herb shops in Taipei City were found to have contained any of the above mentioned pesticides. |
