One hundred and forty samples of retail pork products collected from Northern Taiwan during Jan. to Apr. 1987 were examined for the presence of Yersinia enterocolitica. The organism was recovered from 40 (28.6%) of these tested samples, including 28 (43.8%) from 64 raw pork samples, 2 (4.5%) from 44 sausage samples and 10 (50%) from 20 raviolis samples. The organism was not detected in hams, pates and bacons. With the analysis of variance, the detection rates were affected by sample items and storing conditions (frozen, refrigerated or non- refriger). Serotypable organisms were isolated from 17 samples, frequency rate for serotype 0:5, 0:8 and 0:3 were 10/ 17, 6/ 17 and 1/ 17 respectively. All 0:5, 0:8 strains were isolated from porks and raviolis while the 0:3 strain was from frozen pork. All of these serotypable Y. enterocolitica strains possessed lipase , and showed auto- agglutination and calcium -dependency when grew at 37℃ Furthermore, strains isolated from 15 samples were classified as Nilehn's biotype 1 and Wauter's biotype 2, the other were Nilehn's biotype 1 and W auter's biotype 2. |
