In 2013, Taiwan and Mainland China sign the Cross-Strait Agreement on Trade in Services. Later, Executive Yuan submitted the agreement to Legislative Yuan to review. On March 17, Taiwan's ruling Kuomintang party (KMT), attempted a unilateral move in the Legislative Yuan to force the Cross-Strait Service Trade Agreement to the legislative floor without giving it a clause-by-clause review. It leaded to the Sunflower Student Movement in March 2014. This movement raise the issue that how the Congress should review the cross-strait agreements. |
