Currently there are four sports leagues held in Taiwan, included basketball, volleyball, soccer and baseball. All of them play important roles in enhancing college students' sports techniques, learning skills, and spiritual levels, etc., and also have a considerable benefit. Recently, there have been more than 2 thousand people in the Badminton National Intercollegiate Athletic Games; therefore, it's obvious that badminton is beloved of most of the college students. Thus, based on the current badminton games in college, this study is motivated to enhance the development of college badminton effectively and also to evaluate the feasibility of organizing the University Badminton League. The study was conducted with interviews. There were 32 interviewees from different related areas, included 4 college sports directors, 4 badminton professionals, 2 sports industry personnel, 6 college badminton coaches, 6 novice players and 6 elite players. The information obtained from the analysis followed by full integration. The conclusions are as following: First, in addition to the funding from the public sector and the related education authorities, we should be looking for a long-term cooperation with enterprise to increase the sources of financial support, such as providing the company naming rights, as well as broadcasting rights fee, media advertising and marketing. Hence, we can recruit more social resources and increase the funds. Furthermore, we can also combine the matches with the local real estate industry, tourism, and hospitality industry to establish strategic alliances of industry and events and create prosperity. Second, the planning for the qualification norms of the University Badminton League should be accordance with current Badminton National Intercollegiate Athletic Games. As for the norms and qualification for the foreign students, they should have specific athletic performance as a reference to encourage their participation and to enhance the competitive level in college. Third, we should organize a season for each semester, and the arrangement of the matches should be on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Besides, as for the planning for the levels and regional divisions, we should divide the games into four levels, which are first, second, third, and fourth level, and partition the regions into four areas, which are North One, North Two, Central, and South. |
