This paper deals with the situation of contemporary Chinese speaking philosophy, as well as its future development, by means of a phenomenological inquiry into the peculiar iconicity of the Chinese scrip t. This includes a critique of linguistic theories with respect to this script, as well as some reflections on "body thinking." This is an attempt at demonstrating the signification using an iconic script may have for philosophical thinking, by means of a phenomenological elucidation of the iconic values of Chinese characters. Such is the final thesis put forward: Chinese speaking philosophy may rely on the precious resources of her language and script, so as to develop a thinking through the body. |
