Visuality has an important status and meaning in the philosophy of the ”Zhuangzi” 莊子.This essay attempts to offer a complete analysis of what visuality implies in the ”Zhuangzi”, hoping on one hand to clarify the relationship between the two, and on the other to identify different interpretative approaches that visuality may offer. This essay argues that visuality in the ”Zhuangzi” is closely connected not only with Being-in-the-world but also with the practical and transcendental dimensions. The former has rarely been touched upon in recent studies concerning visuality in the ”Zhuangzi”, and the latter is connected with reflection and concentration. |
