NCL's archiving and reader services have long been its core service to the community, and with this ever in mind, NCL has continually strived to implement new programs and policies to enhance the service it provides to readers. In 2009, a number of new services, such as the new International Organization Information Research Center, were established and implemented, sharing of the NCL collection with other locations, and other like services. Especially of value to core reader services was the remodeling of the exhibition room, made possible by a donation of the Ho Chuang-shih Calligraphy Foundation; not only did this provide an excellent venue for exhibits, it also transformed the entire space of the cultural and educational area. With regard to service policy, the Collection Grading and Distribution Management System was established and put into operation, the course content and epromotion of the NCL E-Learning Campus was enhanced, a new pilot program for recruitment of volunteer guides was begun, and a monthly“Library-wide Briefing Assembly”to strengthen horizontal links of communication, consolidate consensus, and improve library service quality, in hope providing high quality services to library patrons of every type. As a result of all these efforts, this year's reader service satisfaction survey results came back with a 74% rate of satisfaction. |
