The purpose of this study was to investigate the parenting pressure between non-indigenous and indigenous mothers with young children in Taiwan. A questionnaire method was employed for this study. The scale of 'parenting pressure' which including three dimensions: 'marriage pressure', 'parenting pressure', and 'living pressure'. There were 673 mothers participated this study. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. Non-indigenous and indigenous mothers with young children in Taiwan experience moderately high level of parenting pressure. 2. Indigenous mothers were significantly higher than non-indigenous mothers with young children in Taiwan in the scale of 'overall parentin pressure', parenting pressure' and 'marriage pressureA' but not in the 'living pressure'. 3. Parenting pressure of all mothers was significantly differences in several variables, e.g. age, educational level, marital status and etc. Mothers with young children, who aged 30 years old and below, and whose educational level was secondary school and below, and who 'do not live with husband', experienced significantly higher parenting pressure in their respective variable group. |
