As a first child group home with young siblings in Taiwan, the practitioners not only use their past practical experiences of residential care, but also find out a lot of different strategies and experiences. The purpose of this study was to explore the working experiences with young siblings in child group home. The results revealed the effectiveness of intervention for these children, including: sleeping stability, self-identity, interpersonal relationships, emotions and conflict management. Care practitioners have some reflections of working experiences in this practical action, such as the standards of in-take, family dynamics, behavior guidance, family rules, strategies of intervention, professional collaboration, and the role of "professional parents". Lastly, several suggestions were recommended for future practice. (1) Child welfare workers would build the practical model of child group home with young siblings; (2) Social workers would maintain young sibling's bond, and repair their family relationship; (3) Child welfare organizations would strengthen the continuing education and training for group home practitioners; (4) Practitioners would advocate multiple types of out-of-home care; (5) The government would revise the role setting and legislation of child group home. |
