慢性腎功能衰竭（CRF）是發生在各種慢性腎臟疾病基礎上,由於腎單位嚴重受損，緩慢出現腎功能減退而致不可逆轉的腎功能衰竭。其臨床主要表現為腎功能減退，代謝廢物瀦留，水電解質和酸堿平衡失調，以至於不能維持機體內環境的穩定，預後差，嚴重者危及生命。其發病機制以脾腎虛衰，濁毒瀦留為關鍵，總的病機為本虛標實。近年來中醫對慢性腎功能衰竭（CRF）的治療取得了較大進展，因其療效肯定，副作用低，使用方便而日益得到廣泛的研究和運用。本文主要分為辨證論治、專方治療、和其它療法作為論述重點。

The occurrence of chronic renal failure (CRF) is caused by various chronic kidney diseases. It is the slow progressive loss of kidney function due to severe damage of nephron, resulting in permanent kidney failure. The clinical manifestations include loss of renal function, retention of metabolic waste, and electrolyte and acid-base disorders which can damage the stability of inner environment. In addition to having bad prognosis, it may become life-threatening in severe cases. The deficiency in spleen and kidney and the retention of turbidity toxin play a key role in the causes and mechanisms of CRF. The disease pathogenesis is from deficiency in origin and excess in superficislity. In recent years, TCM has made remarkable advances in treatment of CRF. Owing to good curative effect, lower side effects and easy-to-use, TCM treatment of CRF really finds wide application and causes public researches. The discussion of this article centered on syndrome differentiation-treatment, pertinent formulae treatment and other therapies.
