Male climacteric syndrome (andropause) primarily refers to the physiologic decline of organic metabolism and sexual gland function in aging males. This is a condition that can induce a range of clinical manifestations, such as psychological and emotional symptoms, autonomic nervous system disorders, and sexual dysfunction. Clinical symptoms include vexing heat in the five hearts, vexation and emotional disturbance, dizziness and headache, impatience and irascibility, behavioral changes, insomnia and profuse dreaming, palpitations and forgetfulness, chest distension and rib-side pain, fatigue, taste impairment, aversion to cold and cold limbs, and limp aching lumbus and knees. As the nation’s quality of life improves the trend towards an increasingly aging society continues to evolve, and these developments have made the area of geriatrics a focus of the medical research field. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), andropause can be classified as 'kidney vacuity,' and the method of pattern identification as the basis of determining treatment is used. This method takes into account each patient’s unique body constitution and symptoms and has proven to be clinically effective. |
