Purposes: The market for medical devices has grown in recent years and the costs of those made in China are lower than those from other areas. The aim of this was to determine the priority of criteria for purchasing a hyperbaric oxygen chamber made in China. Methods: We interviewed the SK hospital staff members of the procurement and engineering departments and used the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to determine the priority of their criteria for purchasing medical devices made in China. Results: The seven criteria evaluated were: cost, quality, delivery and credit, technology, supply, service, and cooperation and coordination. AHP determined that the three most important criteria were quality, technology, and cost. Conclusions: Quality was the most important criterion and the national standards for medical devices in China were very important references to the device’s quality. This study may help hospitals and medical device agencies in Taiwan to seek higher quality and lower cost devices. |
