The purpose of this study was to investigate the design guidelines of the emergency operation procedure at petrochemical plants. Some strategies were suggested to remedy the operating system and the operators was increased. Based on the field study of the chosen petrochemical plants, the causes of faulty operations and the human reaction under time stress were analyzed. Besides, the operation experiences of the operators toward the existing emergency operation procedure were also analyzed. Some reasonable design guidelines were proposed based on the above investigation results. Six domestic petrochemical plants were used as a sample in this study. The existing difficulty were investigated form the viewpoint of human factors engineering. Also the relevant design procedure of performance aids was consulted so that a series of design guidelines could be developed. These design guidelines could then be used as a guide to design the ‘emergency operation procedure manual’ of general petrochemical plants. Furthermore, the problems of computerization were discussed, and the direction for future studies was suggested. |
