This study designed a passive sampler for nitrogen dioxide and evaluated its efficiency at the levels commonly occurring in urban air (17~165 ppb). This sampler was composed of a multiple-vial made of polypropylene, which is resistant to acid or base, and a polyurethane layer coated with triethanolamine. The average recovery at the test levels (16~165 ppb) was 99.9 % with a standard deviation of 6.5 %, and the overall accuracy was 13.1 %, which did meet the sampling and analysis criteria set up by U.S. NIOSH. |
