The purpose of this study is to compare the characteristics of two checklists, BRIEF (created by Humantech Inc. of the United States) and MSDs (developed by OSHA) used by domestic enterprises. Through field tests and questionnaires, we compared these two checklists to determine which checklist is more suitable for domestic use. Results of the questionnaire showed that 87.5% of the employees had complained about musculoskeletal disorders, Higher than 40% of the employees appeared to suffer shoulder, lower back/waist and hand/wrist musculoskeletal symptoms. Field test results revealed that sensitivity of MSDs checklist was better than that of BRIEF. Since the ergonomics program training time is not sufficient, users of the checklists lack certain degree of experience and skill. The training program should be redesigned to reduce possible human errors in using these checklists. This study suggests that MSDs checklist can be used as a preliminary evaluation tool. |
