The purpose of this study is to measure body surface area (BSA) using a 3D scanner and to derive a BSA estimation formula for indigenous adults. The 3D scanner measures approximately 200,000 body surface points. The total error in BSA measurement due to scanning measurement error and software computational error is less than 2%. Eight hundred adults were measured, and the results were used to derive a BSA estimation formula. The results seem to be comparable to previous data that are measured using traditional methods. The BSA estimation model of this study also validated using 300 new measurements along with the formula proposed in previous research work. The result suggests that the proposed formula fit better for indigenous adults. |
