This study aimed to understand the current state and development of sport management academic research in Taiwan, including the distribution of research topics and research trends. A total of 76 sports management articles were sampled and categorized into the six fields of marketing, sports technology, physical education policy, sport event management, sporting facilities, organizational and human resources management. Descriptive statistics and keyword co-occurrence analysis were utilized to categorize the articles by journal, research topic, and commonly discussed issues. The study’s results revealed the following: the most and least frequently examined topics were organizational and human resources management and sports technology, respectively; the number of articles published peaked between 2014 and 2017, during which marketing sponsorship and sport event management were the primary topics being discussed; and the articles across the six fields had covered various common issues, indicating a correlation among the various sports management research topics. Future studies could consider a multidisciplinary research approach and explore different types of published research to better understand the current state and development of sport management research. |
