Purpose: The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship of self-concept and health behaviors. To design individual health education plans reinforce the motivation of behavioral modification. Method: The population was the students of Junior High School in the Shihlin District in the Taipei City. By purposed sampling, the students who attended to the test were the seventh and eighth grade students in two schools. In the first school, it was 64, which only 60 were the valid questionnaires. In the second school, it was 103, which 78 were the valid questionnaires. The responds of questionnaires were 138 and the valid response rate was 82.6%. Result: The significant variable was gender within school-self, emotion-self, ability-self, self health manage and psychological adjustment. Another significant variable was education of father within family-self, diet habits, psychological adjustment, and stress adjustment. The predictive variables of health promotion behavior were emotion-self, ability-self, and physical-self. The predictive variables of mental health were achievement-self, ability-self, and physical-self. Conclusion: The self-concept and health behaviors were positive correlation. The most important factor of health behaviors was education of father. |
