The effects of different film thickness, epoxy/curing agent equivalent mole ratios, and cooling processes on the electro-optical properties of the polymer-dispersed liquid crystal composite film have been discussed in this study. Electron-optical properties and morphology of the liquid crystal in polymer matrix of the PDLC composite film were obtained using UV/visible photometer and SEM, respectively. It is found that PDLC composite film (12μm) with equivalent mole ratio of epoxy/curing agent being 1/1, prepared by room temperature cooling process, has a low threshold voltage and better contrast ratio. The PDLC film can be utilized in making display and optical devices. |
