The aborigines in Taiwan have experienced the imperialistic colonial government and the cultural aggression of other tribes. These resulted in the break of the cultural tradition and in a crisis of Indigenous Identity. After World War II, in the 1980’s, the Indigenous intelligentsia expected to develop the cultural subjectivity by literary writings and attempted to get rid of the infamy constructed by the writings of others. Furthermore, through the collections of mythologies, it represented the traditional worship ceremonies and cultural thoughts in the living memories of the Indigenous people. However, in spite that the Indigenous people had held the ability to speak out and the media of literary writings, the sinicized thoughts had been deeply entrenched in their living environment. Thus, people seemed not able to escape the government of the cultural re-colonialism, which resulted in the continuous decay of the Indigenous Culture in history. Owing to the above, this article attempts to evaluate the Indigenous Sino-phonetic Writings promoted in the 1980s, from the post-colonial aspect. In other words, it attempts to evaluate if the literary imagination constructed by the Indigenous intelligentsia and the issues of the cultural representation had brought positive effects on the revival of Indigenous culture and the social movement. By doing this research, the writer attempts to understand the difficulty of the Indigenous cultural development and hopes to provide other possibilities of Indigenous Literary Writing Strategies. |
