Tracing back the origin of Chinese traditional medicine, we can not but mention the two great writings, Nei-Ching(內經) and Pent'sao(草本). It is said that Nei-Ching was first handed down form Huangi(the Yellow Emperor黃帝), while Pent'sao was from Shern Nun(神農) both works was thought to be done at about five thousand years ago. Of course, lots of supplement had been added by later generations. However, from the fact that the Chinese ancestors whom we can name of, one represents medical specialist, the other represents pharmacologist, we may say we are really the decendants of medical specialists. In the history no sooner had man had a new invention than it would be preferentially applied to the aspect of medical treatment and health improvement. Therefore, whether we see it from the high level of Chinese cultural achievement or the long-range historical background of medicine and pharmacy, Chinese traditional medicine should be one of the leading knowledge and arts in the world. |
