This study ran from October 1991 to December 1991, during a pneumonia epidemic among children. The patients were admitted to Pediatric Department of China Medical College Hospital. We analyze the Chinese medical pattern (證) of all patients within 12 hours after admission to the hospital. Then we collected their CBC & DC, serum chemistry data, to study the relationship between the patterns and clinical data with statistic method. There were 51 cases (30 male cases and 21 female cases). The majority were diagnosed as wind warmth blocking the lung (風溫閉肺) pattern, the second group was diagnosed as wind-cold blocing the lung (風寒閉肺) pattern, and the third was diagnosed as lung heat with damage to yin (肺熱陰傷) pattern. After comparing the three groups, we discoverd that: Neutrophil, serum glucose, and serum chloride of wind warmth blocking the lung group was predominently higher than the others (P<0.05); lymphocyte of wind-cold blocking the lung group was predominant (P<0.05). Their RBC, WBC, ESR, Na, K, Ca etc. had non-specific difference among the three groups This study further analyze the relationship between pattern and body weight development percentile, and the relationship between the pattern and age; we discovered that (1) The youngest average age group was lung heat with damage to yin; and the oldest average age group was wind warmth blocking the lung. (2) The best body weight developing percentile group was wind warmth blocking the lung. The second was wind-cold blocking the lung group; and the worst was lung heat with damage to yin group. |
