This paper describe experiments to measure α brain wave variations in indiviauals performing qigong. The findings show variations between two states traditionally called quiescence (ru ding) and risonance (gong zhen). In the state of quiescence, the peak power of α brain waves is significantly reduced, while in that of resonancy, α brain waves are significantly reduced. The experiment also showed that Taoist qigong induces the state of resonance, although at a higher level of training it reaches the state of quiescence, which Zen practice aims to attain from the beginning. |
