In this research, illuminance level, which meausres the quantity of energy consumption of lighting, was used as an index to study the relationship between interior illuminance distribution and energy saving. Effects of illuminance distribution on such subjective evaluations as brightness, glaring and comfort were studied. The results showed that brightness and comfort vary significantly with the types of illuminance distribution. Among all 20 types, the ones with well-balanced illuminance distribution led to higher brightness and better comfort. And, a significant positive correlation existed between brightness and comfort. The obtained results suggest that the effect of controlling interior illuminance distribution can be used to improve brightness and comfort without consuming extra energy, or to reduce interior illuminance level under a condition of equal brightness and comfort. |
