Urbanization reduces the opportunity of stormwater infiltration that lessens groundwater rechargeand increases pollutant loads to streams. Reduction of infiltration from impervious areas in the urbanenvironment is one of the key issues in urban flooding; therefore, increasing the infiltration opportunityand capacity in the urban environment can be a good option to tackle this problem. There are nineindicators in the evaluation system of 'Green Building' in Taiwan. The indicator of soil water content atconstruction site is to maintain the hydrologic conditions between pre- and after-development at theconstruction site. Various techniques to retain and infiltrate water are recommended in the evaluationmanual. In order to strength the development of Green Building, technical handbook for soil watercontent plays an absolutely important role. The purpose of the study is to research the design informationof soil water content techniques and develop the technical handbook for soil water content in Taiwan. Thetechnical handbook is to increase emphasis on improving water quality and protecting water resourcesthrough various techniques to retain and infiltrate water. This technical handbook shall provide designstandards and planning concepts to guide planners, land developers, engineers, contractors, and othersinvolved with planning, designing, reviewing, approving, and constructing land development projects. The information can be an advice to improve for lack of soil water content index of Green Building, except that this work can be a frame of reference when the government sets up the relevant polices. |
