This paper describes the prototype of an interactive tool named Spatial Layout Game (SLG) for assisting primary stage of architectural space layout. Rather than focusing on automatically generation of spatial layout based on constraints and rules, this study applies object-oriented programming technology to provide visually responding and interactive feedbacks through manipulative processes and to assist teaching and expression of design skills and knowledge. Through composition of different prototypes, reuse and modification of existed prototypes for adapting to new design situations, this tool allows teachers or students to present their design ideas, and instills layout skills and design knowledge through manipulative processes. |
