This study is to survey and understand the present problems of engineering ethics in construction industry. We review previous studies and summarize the twenty items concerned with engineering ethics issues; additionally, then designed two scenario questions, varying with bribe and risk of being arrested, to assess the bribery-accepting intention. Results of 376 valid returned questionnaires revel that firm’s adopting lowest-bidding competition and illegal lobby are the present critical ethical issues in construction. Approximate 25% of respondents express probably to accept bribes on designed scenario questions. Moreover, results of Chi-Square Test show bribery-accepting intention decrease with age increasing, marriage, the more stable of living, and having more practical working and social experience. |
