Social scientists have continually developed various quantitative and mathematical linguistic methods to supplement qualitative researches in order to reveal the diverse and complex humanity social phenomenon more precisely, so as in spatial research field. By means of computational analysis on space, this research tries to study social culture and spatial structure of the traditional space in Taiwan. By the reciprocal applications of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, it is intended to analyze the structural relationship between the space and culture of the settlements. In order to explore the spatial culture phenomenon hidden underneath Taiwanese villages, two cases are studied in this research. By applying the graph theory to analyze the relationships of spatial structure with individuality and group, interactions of daily life and sequences of relatives, this research try to explore the internal logic of space and social culture behind settlements. |
