In this research, the Cathode Ray Tube television (CRT-TV) was considered for fire burning experiment and smoke toxicity index experiment. The field distribution of temperature, value of heat flux, heat release rate, CO/CO2 concentration, and smoke toxicity index of TV housing material were analyzed to determine the jeopardy of television fire. Findings were concluded from the experiment results as follows: the temperature was as high as 300 ℃ above at 80 cm in top of specimen and 60 cm in its circle in terms of the field distribution of temperature in CRT-TV: the value of heat flux was 1.02~3.20 W/cm2 within 20 cm in its surrounding and the fire tended to expand if flammable object was positioned within this range without fire resistance. From the analysis of CO/ CO2 by gas analyzer, it showed that the CO produced from the burning CRT-TV could cause symptoms of headache, disgusting and breathing difficulty in one hour as it reached to danger degree for human body. It was also found that such condition was correlated with the size of CRT-TV. In the experiment of NES-713 material smoky toxicity index experiment, the plastic housing material of CRT-TV could produce gases like CO, CO2 , NOX and HCHO; its smoky toxicity index was 1.73~4.334 and >1, this could cause jeopardy of human death within 30 minutes. |
