We will start with the review of the development of China Studies as academic discipline. Secondly, we will examine how research approaches employed in this area have been evolving in terms of the state-society relations. Thirdly, we will make efforts to discern the competition and cooperation between area studies and academic disciplines. Fourthly, we will look into Chinese foreign policy by way of International Relations theories with a special focus on the intersection between International Relations and Comparative Politics. Before we come to our conclusions, we will offer a conceptual framework for observing Chinese foreign policy. |
