Grand strategy refers to the integration of the resources of a single state or a group of states to the practice of war for political purposes. Grand strategy is not constrained to military sense, it includes diplomatic, financial, economic and information levels. Singapore's grand strategy has several levels. It builds up the concept of total defense internally, manipulates the concept of regional balance of power between the powerful states externally to ensure its survival. Singapore enjoys the western culture of life on the one hand, on the other hand pursues the concept of Asian values of crony capitalism for the building of state capitalism. It also insists the one-party dominance in the name of Asian values to resist the Western democratic ideas. Singapore is facing the potential threat of geopolitics, but it makes good use of its own advantages ensuring national interest. It is a small state; however, its grand strategy has earned its international reputation for excellence. |
