Between 2007 and 2009, Architecture and Building Research Institute of the Ministry of the Interior carried out a program to conduct environmental-geological disasters determination and risk assessment for hillside communities. The result was very productive. In order to effectively compile the risk analysis results of environmental-geological disasters in hillside communities, this study consolidated the various collected GIS data to the geographic information system and established GIS display and inquiry systems for risk analysis of hazards in hillside communities. In addition to displaying the data and images from various units, the results of risk analysis and environmental-geological disasters determination are also incorporated into the GIS display system, making it easier for users to query information on the environmentally-geologically sensitive areas in each hillside community. Moreover, this system took the diverse data consolidation function into consideration and included information such as investigation reports, photos, satellite images, and aerial photos into the system. This provides the information that users need to quickly understand the environment-geology disasters of each community, status of regional development, historical disasters, location and range of potential disaster, risk rating, and the sensitive area to help each agency to make decisions in hillside management. |
