An architectural building, like a human, has its lifespan. One gets to see a doctor when he is sick. An architectural building’s degradation or functional failure is like the building’s disease. The motivation of this study is for the construction of a website of architectural pathology information, referred to as architectural hospital for short, which provides the public with easy access to the medical information on architectural diseases, and help them get assistance from architectural doctors for architectural health check, maintenance and repairs. This research’s purposes, contents and conclusions are described in three instances as follows: (1) From the survey on the public medical information sources of architectural buildings’ diseases, it is concluded that about 60% of the public depend on human propagation for information acquisition (21.1% on relatives and friends; 40.2% on familiar drug stores). For non-human propagation channels, it is by way of paper or electronic media (including yellow pages, TV commercials, newspapers and magazines, and internet), that takes about 40%, among which internet takes the most proportion that is 23.5%. (2) The survey of domestic and foreign websites for architectural health check, maintenance and repairs, in comparison with the structure and contents of general human hospital websites, it is discovered that there are three architectural information websites – KingNet national internet hospital, Yixiu Web, and Chinese Society of Structural Engineering, which provide the most valuable references for construction of architectural hospital websites. (3) Based on people’s everyday online medical procedures, an architectural hospital website is actually constructed, whose main framework contents include the latest news, website introduction, system introduction, architectural doctors’ profiles, partner vendors, symptoms enquiries, health encyclopedia, online diagnosis inquiries, online clinic registration, rapid health diagnostic centers, house health clinic cases, common terms and regulations, links to other websites and member registrations. This website is named Taiwan Architectural Hospital, which takes a reference to the operational model of the national network hospital KingNet to promote free online house clinic services of health check, maintenance and repair. Efforts are yet to be continued in the future for recruiting enthusiastic and voluntary architectural doctors to provide free services to answer questions from users about architectural building diseases. Maintenance and operation of the website will be the biggest issues in the follow-up development. |
