Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common sleep problem that results in symptoms of excessive daytime sleepiness, memory deterioration, and attention deficiency with impacts on the quality of life. OSA is also highly associated with some death factors. In terms of intervention, the primary treatment including: continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and oral appliances. However, patients lack tolerance for using the device due to the discomfort of the device's installation and financial burden. Therefore, the strategy of training of the upper respiratory tract muscle, including neuromuscle stimulation, instrument performance, and pharynx exercises, has become the strategy for OSA treatment. The results that Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) has improve of OSA patients. This ways that can provide another treatment option of OSA patients, but requires persistence have long-term effects of treatment. |
