A National Survey of Physical fitness and Athletic Performance conducted by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) in 2011 indicates that there is an increasing trend for children nowadays to suffer declining physical fitness despite improved physiques in comparison with their parents' condition dated 30 years ago. As a result, MEXT has set 'Sports Promotion Act' into action and supported initiatives to improve physical fitness which utilize detailed analysis and results of the survey. The study aims to examine the 'Sports Promotion Act' program conducted by a country which shares similar cultural background and lifestyle with Taiwan in the hope of defining a direction for further studies associated in the same topic and the nation's sports policy in the future. |
