Teacher evaluation is not only an integral part of teachers' professional development but also one of the indicators which is relevant to teachers' professional quality. The professional quality of teachers is emphasized in United Stated and Europe by setting teacher professional standards and benchmarks. Therefore, this paper aims to compare the middle school physical education teacher's evaluation criteria in United States, France, and Taiwan. By comparing the similarities and differences of the three countries, a better and fair PE teacher evaluation system could be build. Literature review and document analysis were used during the comparison process. The results showed that, 1. the key differences of the evaluation process among before, during and after period, 2. multiple data collection methods as evaluation tools, and 3. evaluation indicators are focused on teaching competency. Then, implications were extracted from the compared results. Finally, conclusion was addressed to the secondary PE teacher professional development evaluation. |
