Footwork refers to the moving way taken by a table tennis player in order to get the best hitting position. It is always true that 'footwork is the life of a table tennis player'. Table tennis techniques include footwork and hand skills, which are closely interconnected. With the development of table tennis, the improvement of techniques and facilities, a player's winning weapon, goes from single to multiple methods. And the suitable usage of footwork is the key to attacking technique and it is also a guarantee for stability to hit balls. Therefore, footwork is considered highly important for table tennis players. Many beginners, however, often ignore the significance of footwork. For them, instead of having full understanding of footwork, more attention is put to hand skills. It leads to a problem that their overall skills cannot be improved. This paper begins with the development of footwork and then extend to the training of basic footwork. The reading will bring a set of efficient table tennis footwork training to all table tennis lovers. |
