The purpose of this study was to analyze empirical studies of students' perspectives on implementing physical education curriculum models from Journal of Teaching Physical Education (1991-2012) so that we could understand the research agenda of the international status quo, providing Taiwanese physical education researchers and practitioners referential guidelines of quality physical education curriculum and instruction. Articles were examined one by one, and 15 were collected, which included Sport Education model, Cooperative Learning model, Responsibility model, and Adventure Education model. By using the inductive method analysis, the four themes 'experience and attitudes', 'group operation', 'role-playing' and 'transfer of learning' were abstracted. Finally, it was concluded that students constructed positive meaning in the process of implementing physical education curriculum models, which echoed the philosophy of education reforms, but teachers still needed to help group operation and role-playing by using teaching reflections and strategies to reduce students' negative experience. As for how to help students to link the meaningful learning, further studies will be required. |
