Thanks to the increasing number of well-educated women, they have become an important human capital resource. However, women are still expected by the society to be family-attached and value-loaded. The key to change women’s position in society, technology, culture, economy, and polity and to present women’s autonomy is to empower them by education. Education policies today are not only required to meet the increasing need from women in adult education, but also to review its expectation of women’s images, because the women’s position the country has will influence the content of women education policies. If the policymaker considers women as caretakers, not participants in the society, then edcuation will become the tool to reproduce the oppressed forms on women. Hence, from feminist perspectives, this article is aimed at reviewing women's position and the current women education policies in Taiwan. Also, it suggests that the women's position should be made under the intersubjective context of women and the country, and that women education policies should be made based on women's life experience and knowledge to reveal the diverse women images and should be aimed at empowerment to support women as the agents and supervisiors of the country. |
