Adult education is a kind of social movement. Community organizations are social forces by which adult education can be nourished. This paper examines the roles of community organization in community adult education by static and dynamic perspectives. It explores the nature of community adult education and analyses conceptual models developed by Fletcher, Lovett, Brookfield, and Martin. The article also describes some practices of commnunity organizations in western adult education. In conclusion the author argues community organizations play not only the conservative roles but also the radicals such as amimateur, reformer, and organizer. |
